Meet the Staff

Brandon Rager, MA 

Director of Career and Professional Development

As Director of Career and Professional Development, Brandon oversees the traditional functions of the Career Services Office as well as recruiting and supporting students seeking distinctive fellowships as well as students seeking opportunities for global exploration.  During his time at Pitt-Johnstown helped to revamp the residence hall staff training to enhance students’ co-curricular development and played a critical role in adapting the student residential experience to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and create a safe living environment. 

During his undergraduate experience, he was a McNair Scholar studying lived experiences of underrepresented students in higher education. Also, he completed a semester in Seville, Spain through the University of New Haven. His professional experience includes academic success, crisis response, student leadership development, and support of students from underrepresented populations.  Brandon earned his BA in sociology and MA in student affairs in higher education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Brandon also holds a certificate in Academic Advising from IUP. He is a member of the following professional organizations, the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the National Association of Fellowship Advisors, and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. 

Kim Shook 

Employer Relations Specialist

An alum of Pitt-Johnstown, Kim has more than 30 years of experience at Pitt-Johnstown, parlaying her experience in alumni relations and public relations into her role as Employer Liaison.  In that role, she coordinates both the Job and Internship and the Graduate School fairs, strengthening the connections between our students and companies throughout our region.  Applying the winning techniques and strategies that have sustained our 96% success rate for graduates, Kim helps students with career planning and job search strategies.  She earned her BA in journalism and a certificate in business from Pitt-Johnstown and is certified in the Strong Interest Inventory assessment and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
