- Career Counseling
Stop in Real World Career Services and talk with a counselor. We are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., G52 Student Union.
- Major/Minor Selection
We provide guidance in selecting or changing your current major or minor. Visit our office and review our library of What can I do with this Major? handouts.
- Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) & Strong Interest Inventory
Career assessments give students an idea about their personalities and/or interests. Assessments help students determine which career path might best match their personality, interests and work style. Any student wishing to take an assessment can obtain information in the Real World Career Services Office, Student Union G-52, or visit Explore Majors and Careers.
- Resume and Cover Letter Writing Review
The first paragraph of your resumes and cover letters are crucial to your job search. When presented well, these items will help you to secure an interview. These documents will be the employer’s first impression of you as you pursue opportunities ranging from internships to full-time employment. Real World Career Services counselors will review your resume. Stop in Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., G52 Student Union, or schedule a meeting through Handshake.
- Interview Practice (Mock Interview)
We offer interview practice to prepare for upcoming interviews.Students meet with our counselors and we provide a real-life interview setting.
- Graduate School Fair
This event is open to all Pitt-Johnstown students and alumni.
Graduate School and Career Fair information:
- Each organization will be assigned a table with skirting and two chairs
- Exhibitor spaces will be allocated on a first-registered, first-served basis

- Graduate/Professional School Selection
The Real World Career Services Office provides assistance when students are deciding whether or not to go to graduate/professional school.
Students may visit Petersons.com » for information about colleges and universities and graduate schools. Kaplan or Princeton Review visits Pitt-Johnstown to offer FREE practice exams for the GRE's, GMAT's, LSAT's and the MCAT's. Kaplan also offers free online testing. Our office has more information
Internships are a valuable part of the employment process. They will increase your real-world experience and ultimately help when it comes time to look for a full-time position.
- On-Campus Interviewing
Employers come to Pitt-Johnstown to interview students. Mock interviews are also available by appointment. Tips for interviews and a list of questions are available in our office.
- Job and Internship Fairs
The Real World Career Services Office provides access to several job fairs throughout the school year. This makes it possible to meet representatives from a large number of companies in one setting. Always take an ample supply of résumés, and dress professionally. We also have worksheets such as "Job Fair Tips” and "How to make a Job Fair work for you.”
Workshops on résumé writing, interviewing, and job hunting are held at various times during the term.
