Making Payments

Online Payment Methods

Payments can be made online in PittPAY by students or their Authorized Users

Payment Plans

If you would like to pay in installments, you may be interested in enrolling in a PittPAY Payment Plan. This is the only payment option available to pay over time. If you do not enroll in a payment plan, the entire balance is due on the due date. A student or an Authorized User can enroll in the optional Payment Plan. Depending on the date you enroll, you may be eligible for up to six installments for fall or spring terms.  Payments are automatically deducted from the bank account or charged to the credit card you designate when you enroll in a plan. Please click here for more information.

eCheck

eCheck is an electronic deduction from a personal U.S. checking account. Payments made in PittPAY by eCheck are offered at no charge to you. You will need the routing and account number from a personal U.S. checking account to process an eCheck payment online.

Credit or Debit Card

While the University does not accept credit or debit card payments directly, we have arranged for a third-party vendor to accept Discover, MasterCard, and Visa online in PittPAY. Note: you will be charged a non-refundable service fee by the vendor each time you use a credit or debit card to process a payment in PittPAY. This fee will be in addition to tuition, fee, room, and meal plan charges.  If you are planning to use a debit card linked to a U.S. checking account, consider using the eCheck payment method instead to avoid the service fee charged for all debit and credit card transactions in PittPAY.  We are unable to process credit or debit card payments by phone or in person, only online.

Payments In Person

529 and College Savings Plan Payments

It can take up to three weeks for our office to receive payments from 529 plans. Please keep that in mind when authorizing your payments to ensure the funds arrive before the term due date. Payments are posted to the student account on the day they are received. Keep an eye on your PittPAY account to view the payment.

Please visit your 529 or College Savings Plan's website to see what you must submit to support your request for payment. All plans have different forms and requirements. Your term statement can be found as a PDF in PittPAY under the Account Activity tab. Scroll to the desired term and select "Print Term Statement". Be sure to include the student's full name and student ID number and request the check be mailed to:
