Supervised internships in the community allow Pitt-Johnstown writing majors to work for several hours each week in a professional setting. Interns write and edit printed and digital material, honing their professional skills and gaining real-world experience.
Eligible writing students must have at least junior standing and a 3.0 overall grade point average. They must have completed EngWrt 0053 and at least nine credits of English writing or journalism coursework.
For a list of available internships, please contact the coordinator of professional writing, Michael Cox, 230A Biddle Hall.
The internship course, EngWrt 1950, can be taken for three or six credits (for 9 or 18 hours in the workplace each week). Students often interview with the organization sponsoring the internship. They must then be signed into the internship course by the coordinator of professional writing.
