Real World learning at Pitt-Johnstown is a unique blend of academics and experiential learning.
Through our distinctive programs, exceptional performance is derived through a learning process that gives students an opportunity to develop knowledge, skills, and values from direct experiences outside a traditional academic setting. This is accomplished through opportunities including internships, service learning, undergraduate research, study abroad, and other creative and professional work experiences.
The Real World Action Program is a University-wide initiative designed to guide students through a series of programs, activities and experiences that complement their academic studies.
"Deciding to pursue an internship was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It gave me great real-world experiences in the field that I want to be in when I enter the job market. These hands-on experiences, such as updating marketing materials, promotions work, and advertising for different media, definitely added to my skill set that I can use for my career."

"Both of my internships were fulfilling opportunities that allowed me to not only experience my career in a workplace setting but also taught me how to improve and refine my writing abilities."
