Pitt-Johnstown Secondary Education

Pitt-Johnstown offers four-year degree programs leading to a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in seven secondary education areas of concentration (listed in the box).

Secondary Education

The secondary education major prepares students to teach grades seven through 12 and in state-approved middle schools.

The secondary education graduate is certified to teach one of the areas of concentration. The curriculum includes a distribution of courses in the arts and sciences, field-connected education courses, and courses in the appropriate content area of concentration.

In Secondary Education, certification is available in more than one concentration, although coursework must be selected carefully and more than the traditional eight terms of study may be needed.

In addition, certification is available in all areas for students who hold a bachelor's degree.
