Pitt-Johnstown Named to Pa. Business Central’s Top 100

Pitt-Johnstown has been named to the 2017 Pennsylvania Business Central Top 100 Organizations. It is the sixth consecutive year that Pitt-Johnstown has earned the honor.

Pennsylvania Business Central Top 100 The list honors the top 100 industries within the Pennsylvania Business Central’s 16-county coverage area. Nominations were accepted from throughout the publication's 24-county coverage area, and the final honorees are businesses that achieved a level of excellence, and had a positive impact on our region in 2017.

Pitt-Johnstown is a vital knowledge center and the foremost contributor to the region’s educational, social, cultural, and economic development. The high-quality educational experience in a supportive living-learning environment prepares students for success in the real world.

This past year, Pitt-Johnstown has:

  • Welcomed one of its largest freshmen classes;
  • Opened the John P. Murtha Center for Public Service and National Competitiveness, which hosts events, workshops, and academic symposia, and is a lasting tribute to the late Johnstown congressman;
  • Broke ground for a chemical engineering building;
  • Served the community with more than 5,000 volunteer hours by students and staff;
  • Featured distinguished guest speakers on topics ranging from social media to astronomy to veterans’ wellness;
  • Impacted the future with the enhancement of its ambitious community initiative, CODE (Computational-Learning Opportunities in a Digital Environment) for the Commonwealth and Country, which brings digital literacy to K-12 curriculums.

This Top 100 list has been a part of the publication since the early 1990s. Pitt-Johnstown was profiled in the February 23, 2018, Special Edition.
