What influenced your decision to attend UPJ?
I chose UPJ for many different reasons. I'm from Somerset, PA, but have a lot of family in the Johnstown area. I had a great job as a local DJ, which I didn't want to give up, so staying local was very important to me. UPJ's size also had a lot to do with my decision. It's big enough to meet new people and try exciting things, but small enough to develop close relationships with the professors.
How has UPJ helped you - personally or academically?
I grew up not far from Johnstown, and UPJ has given me the opportunity to meet friends from all over. Some of my best friends are from Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia. The biggest advantage for me academically has been the accessibility of my professors. They encourage students to ask questions and are always willing to go the extra mile. It's a great academic support network.
What has been your most outstanding UPJ experience and why?
Joining the UPJ Programming Board has definitely been one of my best experiences. The Programming Board plans and schedules all of the outside entertainment that comes to campus. Because I am planning a career in radio broadcasting, my experiences with the Programming Board have provided an amazing opportunity to network and gain hands-on job skills.
