Why did you choose UPJ?
It's not a huge school, classes are smaller...people are easy to talk to and always willing to help. Although I fell in love with the natural beauty of the campus when I visited, the freshman dorms really made an impression. I loved the fireplaces in the lobbies and the fact that every two rooms share a bathroom, rather than sharing with the whole floor.
How has it helped you - personally or academically?
I've grown, met a lot of new people...matured a lot, really. I live away from home, so I've learned to take care of myself. Academically, professors are always willing to help. They're easy to talk to, and I have become close to many of the professors in my major. I feel like I have a better understanding of my professional interests.
Do you know what you might be thinking of for a career after college?
My long-range goal has been to work in pharmaceutical sales. But I'm also thinking about events-planning. I got interested when I helped plan a concert on campus. I was surprised how much work goes into that type of event, but seeing a sold-out concert coming together and everyone having a blast was really rewarding, and so I've been looking into that professional area.
