Welcome to the next step!!

We want to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your academic achievement and to welcome you to the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.  We recognize that college is a BIG step...possibly the biggest you've ever taken.  Fortunately, it is not one huge step, but a series of smaller steps that add up.  While the next few months may seem overwhelming, the information that we've collected here should help you to plan for the what's next.

 Pay the $100 Tuition Deposit

     

 You can pay your tuition deposit at the Admissions Office in Blackington Hall.  The deposit can be made in person, by mail, or via phone.  The deposit form will be included with your acceptance letter.  If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the Admissions Office at 1-800-765-4875. 

     

You can make your tuition deposit anytime before the May 1 deadline. 

 Admission Data Form

     

 Students will receive their Admission Data Form with their acceptance letter.

     

 You can return your Admission Data Form to the Admissions Office when you make your tuition deposit.

 Apply for Financial Aid

     

If you have any questions when applying for financial aid, please contact the Financial Aid Office at              1-800-881-5544. Filing your FAFSA is done online.

     

You can file for financial aid beginning in January. We ask that you submit the FAFSA form by         April 1.

 Change Major

     

At Pitt-Johnstown, we offer over 40 Undergraduate Majors.  There are two ways you can change your major. One way is by contacting the Admissions Office at 1-800-765-4875.  You can also change your major by contacting the Registrar's Office at               814-269-7055. 

     

You can change your major at any time. If you decide to change it prior to May 1, contact the Admissions office. If you decide to change it after May 1, contact the Registrar's Office. 

 Placement Exams

     

Placement exams are held on campus in the Cambria Room, located in the Student Union. A Math placement exam is required for all incoming freshmen. We will also be offering optional Chemistry and Foreign Language tests.

     

Placement exams dates will be announced at a later date.

 Summer Reading Program

     

 You will receive information in the mail about the Summer Reading Program for first-year students.

     

 Students are to complete the reading during the summer months.  Topics will be discussed in the one-credit course that is required for all first-year students, University Scholarship.

 Final High School Transcripts

     

You can have your final transcript sent by visiting your high school Guidance Department. 

     

We need to have a copy of your final high school transcript sent to us as soon as they are available.

 College Transcripts

     

 Students who have earned college credits need to contact the school's Registrar's Office and have an official transcript sent to Pitt-Johnstown.

     

Contact the school's Registrar's Office as soon as the grades are available. 

 Class Schedule

     

You will receive your class schedule at Academic Orientation which is held on campus.  While at Orientation, you will also have the opportunity to meet with your Academic Advisor at that time.

     

Orientation dates will be announced at a later date.

 Academic Orientation

     

New Student Academic Planning takes place on the Pitt-Johnstown campus.  Students will receive their Fall 2010 schedules and also have an opportunity to meet with their Academic Advisors.

 Campus Housing

     

The Housing and Residence Life Office will send you a packet of information which will include a housing contract and roommate selection form.

     

Housing packets go out to all students who have indicated they want to live on campus AND have paid their $100 tuition deposit.  Packets will be sent out following the May 1 Tuition Deposit Date.

 Meal Plans

     

You will receive information about meal plans at Orientation.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Dining Services at 814-269-1900.

     

During your Academic Orientation you will be able to contract for a meal plan.

 Computer / E-mail Accounts

     

You will receive information about computer and           e-mail accounts in your home mailbox.  For additional information, please contact User Services at            814-269-7105.

     

Information concerning your Pitt     e-mail and computer accounts will be sent directly from the University of Pittsburgh through the mail.

             

 Parking Permits

     

You will receive information at Academic Orientation.  You can also receive information about parking on campus by contacting the Campus Police at           814-269-7005. 

     

During the Academic Orientation you will receive information about parking if you choose to bring a car to campus.

 Student IDs

     

You will receive information at Academic Orientation.  You can also receive information about your Student ID by contacting Information Systems at                    814-269-7020.

     

During your Academic Orientation you will have your picture taken for your student ID. You will receive your ID during Welcome Weekend. 

 Health Forms

     

Health forms will be sent directly to your home.  You can receive information about health forms by contacting Health Services at 814-269-7110.

     

The Office of Admissions will mail your health form AFTER the $100 tuition deposit is paid.

 e-Bills

     

You can access your e-bill by using your Pitt e-mail address. If you would like additional information, please contact the Business Office at                           1-800-444-4875.

     

Once you receive your official Pitt      e-mail address, you will get information on the e-Bill system.

 Visiting Campus

     

 If you would like to schedule a visit to see the campus, please contact the Pitt-Johnstown Admissions Office at 1-800-765-4875.

     

 Contact us anytime if you would like a chance to see the campus--for the first time or a return visit.

 Move-In

     

 New students will move-in to their assigned resident halls on campus.  When students get settled on campus, they will also have the opportunity to participate in campus activities.

     

 Move-in date and times for new students will be announced at a later date.
