High School Special Program (Part-Time)

Program
The High School Special Program is designed for accelerated high school students who wish to enroll in one or more courses at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. The chosen coursework is complete while still attending high school. The classes may be taken during the Fall Term (late August - mid-December), Spring Term (January - April), or during Summer Sessions. Courses are typically selected from the introductory level of college offerings in the Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. The program is generally available to students who have completed the junior year of high school.  However, in cases where the application is appropriately supported, students who are high school juniors may also be approved for the "High School Special" Program.

Credits Earned
Credits earned for each course taken in the "High School Special" Program are accepted for transfer at essentially all colleges and universities, contingent upon the grade obtained and the institutions' credit transfer policies.

Advising and Registration
Students who are admitted to the "High School Special" Program are individually advised by the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, who assists the student with course selection and registration.

Cost
Tuition for courses taken in the "High School Special" Program are the per credit charge for undergraduate courses at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.  Most Arts & Sciences courses are three credits each.
