Weekday Campus Visit
The Office of Admissions offers student guided tours throughout the week. With a few exceptions, tours are offered hourly between 10am and 2pm Monday through Friday. Either before the tour, or following the tour, we will schedule some time with a member of the Admissions staff so that you may have your questions answered. SInce we want to ensure that a staff member and tour guide are available, we ask that you call ahead to schedule a visit.

Admissions Interviews
When we refer to an Admissions "Interview", we are actually talking about an informal meeting with the student and their family. These meetings are designed as a way for the families to ask questions and gather information about Pitt-Johnstown.

Some of the typical topics covered are:

  • Application Process and Timeline
  • Financial Aid and Scholarship
  • Major selection
  • Campus Activities
  • Campus Environment
  • Classroom Experience

While these are some common topics, the meetings are not limited to any particular topic. If you have questions, this is the time to ask them. If we do not know the answer, we will find someone who does.

A helpful hint would be to write out the questions you'd like to ask beforehand. By coming in with a list of questions, you ensure that they get answered. In fact, we don't mind if you want to take notes so you can remember the information.

Guided Campus Tours
Meeting with a member of the Admissions Staff is a great way to gather information about the campus, but seeing the college first hand is what the campus visit is all about. We in the Admissions Office benefit from the efforts of a group of dedicated student tourguides. These are current Pitt-Johnstown students who volunteer their time to direct prospective students and their families around campus. These students are the real experts on campus. They live here, eat here, go to class here, and are only a couple of years older than the student visitors. They are very often the single best source of campus information.

A typical campus tour will:

  • Typically include only 2 or 3 families
  • Be a walking tour of campus
  • Take about 50 minutes to complete
  • Walk through all academic buildings on campus
  • Point out relevent offices on campus
  • Take the families inside a Freshman dorm room
  • Include a visit to a Sophomore level dorm room
  • Point out all other (upperclass) housing
  • Depart from and return to the Admissions Office
  • Provide an informal forum for asking questions

We are proud of our student tourguides and the job that they do. We understand that the campus tour is a key factor in many students' decision, and want it to be as pleasant an experience as possible.
