Application Deadlines for International Students

It is strongly recommended that you apply at least two to three months in advance of international student deadlines noted above.
Freshman Applicants
- Application Fee of $45.00. The application cannot be waived or deferred.
- Submit official documents from secondary education (high school transcript). Copies of secondary-level academic documents must be certified copies of original documents.
- Submit evidence of English language proficiency. English proficiency is determined by submitting the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 213 (550 on the paper-based test) or the results of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum result of Band 6.5. This requirement is waived for the following:
a. Applicant is a citizen of a country where English is the official language
b. Applicant has a Verbal score of 600 or higher on the SAT
- Students attending high schools in the United States or international schools in other countries must also submit official results of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). All other applicants are encouraged but not required to submit SAT results. American College Test (ACT) results are also accepted.
Transfer Applicants
- Application fee of $45.00. The application fee cannot be waived or deferred.
- Submit official academic documents from secondary education (high school). Copies of secondary-level academic records must be certified copies of the original documents.
- Submit academic records, transcripts, mark sheets, etc. from all post secondary (university-level) institutions attended.
- Submit official course descriptions or examination syllabi for courses completed at the post secondary (university)level. These are required to enable us to complete a transfer credit evaluation. If official course descriptions/examination syllabi are issued in a language other than English, certified English translations must also be submitted together with the original language course descriptions/examination syllabi. The amount of transfer credit awarded will be communicated to applicants after admission is offered. Note: The University of Pittsburgh does not accept or recognize transfer credit evaluations done by other institutions or private credential evaluation services. Course descriptions for courses completed at regionally accredited institutions in the U.S. are not required.
- Submit evidence of English language proficiency. English proficiency is determined by submitting the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 213 (550 on the paper-based test) or the results of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum result of Band 6.5. Note:
1. Transfer applicants currently attending institutions in the U.S. are not waived this requirement.
2. Copies of the results are not accepted.
3. The above requirement is waived for the following:
a. Applicant is a citizen of a country where English is the official language
b. Applicant has a Verbal score of 600 or higher on the SAT
- Complete and submit the Certification of Financial Responsibility found in the International Application for Admission.
