Creative Writing

The emphasis in Creative Writing develops students’ imaginative writing talents and offers intensive study in a variety of traditional and contemporary genres, including:

  • poetry
  • the short story
  • creative nonfiction and the personal essay
  • playwriting
  • Most students begin to focus on a specific genre their Junior or Senior year and finish their Pitt-Johnstown career by enrolling in our Advanced Seminar in Writing or undertaking an Independent Study with a faculty member.
