The University of Pittsburgh named an economist and university administrator as the new president of its Greensburg campus.
Sharon P. Smith, 59, currently a top administrator in academic affairs at National University in La Jolla, Calif., will take over at Pitt-Greensburg on July 1.
Smith worked as an economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and for AT & T before joining the academic ranks. She spent 16 years in posts at Fordham University, including dean of the College of Business and the Faculty of Business at Fordham.
Pitt also named the new president at the university's Johnstown branch campus.
Jem Spectar, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Western Oregon University, will take over at Pitt-Johnstown on July 1.
Spectar has also served as associate provost for academic affairs at the University of Scranton, director of studies at Princeton University and assistant dean of students at the University of La Verne in La Verne, Calif.
