What are the office hours for Housing and Residence Life
The Housing and Residence Life office is open from 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
I want to sign up for a meal plan, who should I contact?
Meal plans are administered by the Conference Center. For questions, to sign up for a meal plan, or to make changes to your meal plan, please contact the Conference Center at x1900.
How will my roommate and I be charged for long distance?
While the University does provide a telephone in each room and access to local and toll-free dialing, long distance service is not available. The majority of resident students use their personal cell phone for long distance calling. However, you may also use a pre-paid phone card to dial a long distance phone number.
How much room is under my bed for storage boxes?
In a first-year buildings and Willow there is 10 1/4" of space under your bed. In the LLC and Foxfire there is 11 1/4" of space. In all other upper-division buildings there is 12" of space under your bed.
I'm 21 years old. Am I allowed to have alcohol in my room?
The answer to this question depends on what facility you live in on campus. Students over 21 years of age are permitted to have alcohol in their rooms in all of our facilities except the first year buildings (Hemlock, Hickory, Laurel, Maple, and Oak Halls). Students must register any alcohol that they have with their facility's residence staff and residents must also follow the guidelines established in the Student Code of Conduct/Handbook and in Living On Campus.
Is internet service available in my room?
Yes, Internet service is available in all of our residence facilities, through ResNet. Every Residence Facility has free internet service provided through a Local Area Network (LAN). To utilize this service, you will need an Ethernet Card installed in your computer and a data link cable to plug in. Ethernet cards are available for purchase through the campus book store. For questions regarding installation and setting up configuration, please call extension x7160, or visit the ResNet webpage.
What are the housing rates for the current academic year?

Can I live by myself in a private room?
Private rooms are available on an individual basis, depending on the occupational needs of the residential community. Private rooms are not always available every semester. Please contact the Housing and Residence Life office for more details regarding private rooms.
I have a special need regarding my room, who do I contact?

I have decided to live off campus after the fall term, can I get my housing deposit back?
The housing contract at Pitt-Johnstown is a legally binding agreement that obligates you to living on campus for the full academic year. As such, you may only receive a refund of your deposit if you are commuting from your parent'guardian's primary residence. Please view the Terms and Conditions of Residence for complete details.
May I keep a pet in my room?
The Office of Housing and Residence Life recognizes the many benefits that pets provide. However, to best serve the needs of the residential community as a whole students are permitted to keep aquarium fish ONLY(15Gallon maximum). All other pets are prohibited in University housing. Students who choose to house a pet other than fish will be fined and the pet will need to be removed from campus.
Who cleans my bathroom?
Individual residents assigned to a room, apartment, suite, or townhouse that contain a bathroom are responsible for cleaning that bathroom. Cleaning supplies are not provided to residents by the University.
What is my mailing address?
Every Pitt-Johnstown residential student receives a campus mailbox. Please use the following format when mailing items to your campus box, where XXXX represents your mailbox number:
