Golf Opens Season 13th at Glenville State's Oxbow Spring Invitational
03/24/07...Freshman Derek Ellis (Somerset, Pa.) placed in a tie for 38th to lead the Pitt Johnstown men's golf team to a 13th place finish at the 2007 Glenville State (WV) College/Oxbow Spring Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Belpre, OH.
Ellis shot an opening round 81, before finishing with an 80 on day two. Junior Cory Skasik (Pittsburgh, Pa.) followed his 93 in the first round with a team-best 78 in Saturday's second round to place 54th. Sophomore Ben Sera (Irwin, Pa.) finished 59th with a two-day total of 173, while Senior Brad Kohr (Johnstown, Pa.) tied for 65th (181) and Andrew Roberts (Punxsutawney, Pa.) placed 67th (185) for the Mountain Cats.
Ohio Valley (WV) University claimed the tournament championship after shooting a two-day toal of 591 and winning a play-off over second place Fairmont State (WV) University. Concord (WV) University (595) finished third, followed by West Liberty State (WV) College (600), Shepherd (WV) University (608), West Virginia Wesleyan (628), Ohio Valley "B" (630), Salem International (WV) University (636), Glenville State (646), Seton Hill Univesity (657), Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University (661), Davis & Elkins (WV) College (675) and Pitt Johnstown (684).
