Recontracting Process for Fall 2008

ALL current UPJ students interested in housing for the upcoming 2008-2009 academic year MUST adhere to the following re-contracting process and requirements:
Step 1: Payment of Housing Deposit
- Students MUST be currently registered and pay a $350.00 room deposit in order to participate in the re-contracting process.
- Deposits are to be paid at the Business Office and will be accepted starting 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 and ending 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008.
- Deposits received after 4:00 p.m. on March 28 will result in the student being assigned at the discretion of the Director of Housing and Residence Life and/or his designee during the summer months.
- In order to pay one’s $350.00 room deposit, one’s account at the Business Office MUST be paid in full and free of ALL holds.
- The $350.00 deposit will only be refunded as follows:
- In August, if one cancels housing for Fall Term, in writing, prior to August 1.
- In December, if one cancels housing for Spring Term in, in writing, prior to December 1.
Step 2: Online Procurement of Re-Contracting ID Number
EVERY student wishing to re-contract MUST have a re-contracting ID number.
Only students who have paid the $350.00 room deposit between February 20 and March 28 will receive the appropriate online access to procure a re-contracting ID number.
Steps for Procurement
Click on "I am a Student".
Enter your current user name and password.
Select the Housing Re-Contracting option.
Read and accept the Terms and Conditions of Residence
Record the re-contracting ID number that will be issued upon acceptance of the Terms and Conditions of Residence and successful completion of the Resident Assessment Survey.
Step 3: Online Submission of Housing Application
- Only students with a valid re-contracting ID number may complete and/or appear on a housing application.
- One MUST have the required number of roommates in order to complete the appropriate application and successfully re-contract.
- Individuals in need of a roommate(s) are encouraged to visit the Housing and Residence Life Office, meet with a member of the staff, complete a “Situation Wanted” form, and browse the “Situation Wanted” board in an effort to find a potential roommate for the next year.
- Students desiring to re-contract who are unable to find a roommate(s) by the time of re-contracting MUST complete the Single Applicant application. Single applicants will be waitlisted and housed at the discretion of the Director of Housing and Residence Life and/or designee.
- Applications will be available online and MUST be completed according to the Housing Application Schedule below.
