Track Finishes Fifth at Marietta Invitational
02/02/07...The Pitt Johnstown women's track team traveled to Marietta, OH on Friday and came away with a fifth place finish at the 2007 Marietta (OH) College Invitational.
Freshman Alicia Zack (Irwin, Pa.) placed third in the 200 Meter Dash (30.81) and fifth in the 55 Meter Dash (8.32), while April Maritz finished right behind her in both races. Maritz placed fourth in the 200 Meter (33.26) and sixth in the 55 Meter (8.39). Sophomore Rachele Gentile (North Apollo, Pa.) was fourth in the 55 Meter Hurdles (10.41) and sixth in the 400 Meter Dash (1:15.96). Freshmen Deborah Beaver (Millerstown, Pa.) earned two team points with a seventh place finish the the 400 Meter Dash (1:25.50) and freshman Katie Croyle (Petersburg, Pa.) collected one point for an eighth place finish in the 800 Meter Run (2:51.18).
In the field events, sophomore Julie Pennesi (Latrobe, Pa.) placed fifth in the Triple Jump (8.48m) and eighth in the Long Jump (4.09m). Kristin Kelly (Bethel Park, Pa.) finished sixth in the Triple Jump (7.81m) and Chrissy Burnsworth (McKeesport, Pa.) placed seventh in the Shot Put (8.19m).
Otterbein (OH) College took first place with 243 team points, followed by Marietta (194 pts.), Concord (WV) University (73 pts.), University of Charleston (WV) (51 pts.), Pitt Johnstown (43 pts.), West Virginia State (36 pts.), Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College (26 pts.) and Rio Grande (OH) University (4 pts.).
Pitt Johnstown travels to the Slippery Rock University Invitational on Saturday.
