The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown Theatre Department will celebrate Shakespeare’s most beloved play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in an exciting Studio Theatre production at 8 p.m. Thursday, February 15 through Saturday, February 17 and Thursday, February 22 through Saturday, February 24, and matinees at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 18 and Sunday, February 25.

Running from the harshness of Athenian law, two pairs of star-crossed lovers find themselves in a magical forest where the rival courts of fairy monarchs Oberon and Titania are dueling.  Add the antics of a group of bumbling would-be thespians rehearsing their drama in the same wood for a lyrical, music-laced, enchanted evening of comic Shakespeare Light.A Midsummer Night's Dream

The 24 actor cast features Jacob St. Clair, Kevin Rozich, Rachel Abraham, Curtis Caldwell, Andrew Miller, Angela Godin, Michelina Pollini, Joshua Way, Sean McHugh, Monika Shrift, and Jessica Barton.  Scenery is designed by James Moore, with lighting and sound by Michael Feight, costumes by Linda Capp, and choreography by Sharon Wissinger.  The production is directed by Rodney Eatman, assisted by Joshua Way.  The stage manager is Sadie DeSantis.

Tickets may be purchased by calling the ArtsLine at 1-800-846-ARTS from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.  Tickets are $7.  Discount tickets of $5 are being offered to senior citizens (over 65 years of age), students under 18 and members of the Pitt Johnstown community (faculty, staff, students and members of the Pitt Johnstown Alumni Association who carry the “gold card”).  The box office is open for in-person sales from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The box office opens one hour before performances.

Founded in 1927, the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is a four-year, degree-granting college of the University of Pittsburgh with an enrollment of approximately 3,200.  The university offers more than 40 majors and is known for its engineering technology, education, humanities, natural and social sciences degree programs.  UPJ has been ranked “Third in the North” among public comprehensive colleges and universities, northern region, by U.S. News and World Report, America’s Best Colleges, 2007.
