11/19/06...Year in and year out, Head Coach Pat Pecora and the Mountain  Cat wrestling team, ranked #5 in NCAA Division II, take on the best teams in the country, despite their NCAA affiliation.  On Sunday, Pitt Johnstown traveled to the Pennsylvania State Duals at Lock Haven University and posted a 1-2 record after defeating Division III #14 York College and suffering losses to Division I #21 Lehigh University and Division I #8 Penn State University.  The Mountain Cats are now 2-2 on the year.
In Sunday's First Round, Pitt Johnstown suffered a 22-11 loss to #21 Lehigh.  After falling behind, 3-0, Mountain Cat junior All-American Brandon Reasy (133 lbs.) (New Enterprise, Pa.) pulled the Mountain Cats even with a 4-2 win over Seth Ciasulli.  Lehigh went on to win the next five matches, before Pitt Johnstown National Runner-up Mike Corcetti (184 lbs.) (Export, Pa.) and National Qualifier Mike Fowler (197 lbs.) (Carrolltown, Pa.) earned back-to back major decisions to close the gap to 19-11.  Corcetti defeated David Craig, 11-3 and Fowler earned a 13-5 win over Matt Cassidy.  However, Paul Weibel dealt sophomore Jon Neese (Chambersville, Pa.) a 9-7 loss in the heavyweight bout to set the final at 22-11.
The Mountain Cats then took on #8-ranked Penn State and fell 29-6.  The Nittany Lions built a 15-0 lead until Mountain Cat red-shirt freshman Archie McConnell (Quarryville, Pa.) scored a 5-4 win over Jason Lapham at 157 lbs.  Penn State improved its lead to 21-3 before Corcetti pick-up his second win of the day.  This time, Corcetti defeated Phil Bomberger, 4-0 to make it 21-6.  The Nittany Lions closed out the match with a pair of major decisions at 197 lbs. and heavyweight.
In the day's finale, the Mountain Cats rolled over #14 York College, 39-3.  Reasy, Fowler, and freshman Chris Demspey (HWT.) (Sewickley, Pa.) all won by fall, while sophomore Scott Morgan (125 lbs.) (North Huntingdon, Pa.), junior Rob Sakmar (174 lbs.) (Johnstown, Pa.) and red-shirt freshman Pat Walsh (Leesport, Pa.) collected major decision victories.  Coach Pecora also got decisions from sophomore Mazen Kholi (Allentown, Pa.), senior National Qualifier Joe Strittmatter (157 lbs.) (Ebensburg, Pa.) and red-shirt freshman Kyle Keane (Clearfield, Pa.) in the dominating victory..... (Complete Results)
