Pitt-Johnstown Senior Receives Scholarship from PA Association of School Retirees

Eric Yacko, a University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown secondary education mathematics major and son of Michael and Carol Yacko of Lower Burrell, has been awarded a $750 scholarship from the Region VI Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.

A UPJ senior, Mr. Yacko has been named to the college’s “Dean’s List” each semester, is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Phi Lambda Theta Education Honor Society, Time-Out Christian Fellowship, and is a University Scholar.

He has participated in intramural soccer and basketball and has performed volunteer work with the Humane Society.

Founded in 1927, the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is a four-year, degree-granting college of the University of Pittsburgh with an enrollment of approximately 3,200.  The university offers more than 40 majors and is known for its engineering technology, education, humanities, natural and social sciences degree programs.  UPJ has been ranked “Third in the North” among public comprehensive colleges and universities, northern region, by U.S. News and World Report, America’s Best Colleges, 2007.
