Wrestlers Open Season With Seven Champions at Washington and Jefferson Open
Derrek Bosso Earns Most Outstanding Wrestler Award

and the #5-ranked Mountain Cat wrestling team opened the 2006-07 season with seven out of the ten possible champions and four runner-ups at Sunday's Washington and Jefferson College Collegiate Open. Junior Derrek Bosso (125 lbs.) (Pequea, Pa.) was named the open's Most Outstanding Wrestler as he took the 125-lb. title with a 4-0 record, collecting two decisions and two major decisions.
    
Along with Bosso, junior Brandon Reasey (133 lbs.) (New Enterprise, Pa.), red-shirt freshmen Shane Valko (141 lbs.) (Windber, Pa.) and Kyle Keane (165 lbs.) (Clearfield, Pa.), juniors Ron Sakmar (174 lbs.) (Johnstown, Pa.) and Mike Corcetti (184 lbs.) (Export, Pa.) and senior Mike Fowler (197 lbs.) (Carrolltown, Pa.) all claimed titles in their respective weight classes.

ophomore Mazen Kholi (157 lbs.) (Allentown, Pa.) and freshmen wrestling unattached Chris Decker (174 lbs.) (Port Matilda, Pa.) and Nathan Murin (184 lbs.) (Washington, Pa.) all finished second.  Pitt Johnstown also got third place finishes from Scott Morgan (125 lbs.) (North Hunington, Pa.), Joe Strittmatter (157 lbs.) (Ebensburg, Pa.)Archie McConnell (165 lbs.)(Quarryville, Pa.) and freshman Chris Dempsey (Sewickley, Pa.), who wrestled unattached at heavyweight.  Dempsey earned the Most Falls Award after recording four falls.  In addition, freshman Josh Ervine (Tipton, Pa.), who also wrestled unattached, earned a fourth place finish at 141 lbs.  
    
Pitt Johnstown opens its dual meet schedule on Saturday at East Region rival and #12-ranked West Liberty State (WV) College.  The Mountain Cats' first home dual will be December 1 at 7:00 p.m. when Shippensburg University visits the sports Center.
