Pairings Announced for Pitt Johnstown Alumni Association Mountain Cat High School Basketball Tournament

The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown Alumni Association has announced the pairings for the 29th annual Mountain Cat High School Men’s Basketball Tournament scheduled for tip off at 7 p.m. Friday, December 15, in the UPJ Sports Center.

In the first game, defending champions the Greater Johnstown High School Trojans will be paired against the Forest Hills High School Rangers.

In the second game, making their first appearance the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School Tigers will be paired against the Bishop McCort High School Crimson Crushers.

The second round of the tournament will be played at 7 p.m. Saturday, December 16, beginning with a consolation game between the two losers in Friday’s competition and concluding with the championship bout between the two Friday evening game winners.

Admission is $4 for the general public and $3 for students and Pitt Johnstown Alumni Association members.  Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Association, who supports programs and activities of the college.

The chairman of this year’s tournament is Dr. Ernest J. Mantini (’79).

The Pitt Johnstown Alumni Association, founded in 1973, has developed into an active organization whose activities throughout the year provide support to a variety of the college’s academic, social and cultural enterprises, as well as the Pitt Johnstown Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.
