The Resident Assistant (RA) Selection process at Pitt-Johnstown is similar to a practicum experience in which applicants, known as Residence Clerks (RCs), participate in a variety of preparation activities ranging from shadowing current staff during duty nights, to attending skill-based workshops, to meeting the educational and/or social needs of residents by planning and implementing a program.  The purpose of the entire clerking program is to provide RCs with enough field experience to be able to self-evaluate their readiness to accept a potential offer to become a paraprofessional member of the Housing and Residence Life Staff.  The experiences also provide opportunities for the current members of the residence staff to mentor and assess the skills of budding community leaders.

Minimum criteria for participation in the program include but are not limited to being a current full-time Pitt-Johnstown student in good academic and disciplinary standing.  Applications formerly rejected or applicants who were removed from a previous process are not eligible.

If applicants have any questions, they are welcome to visit Erica Wurm in the Office of Housing and Residence Life Staff or call extension 2023.

Pitt-Johnstown is an equal opportunity, affirmative action educator, and employer.
