Women's Soccer Opens Season With 6-1 Win Over Lancaster Bible

Sophomore midfielder Alyssa McKinney (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and freshman forward Alicia Zack (Irwin, Pa.) each scored a pair of goals Friday afternoon to lead Head Coach Crystal Dye's (2nd year) women's soccer team to a 6-1 victory over Lancaster Bible College in the First Round of the 2006 UPJ Women's Kick-Off Classic.

     Zack scored Pitt Johnstown's first goal of the 2006 season at 4:27, just before McKinney made it 2-0 :27 later.  After Lancaster Bible cut the lead to 2-1 on Nicole Cooper's goal at 22:00, Pitt Johnstown went on the add four more unanswered goals in the 6-1 win.
     Freshmen Chrissy Burnsworth (McKeesport, Pa.) and Kristin Kelly (Bethel Park, Pa.) collected their first collegiate goals, while Zack and McKinney added an assist each to go along with their goals.
     Pitt Johnstown junior goalkeeper Anna Yarnall (Allentown, Pa.) surrendered one goal on the only shot she faced to improve to 1-0.
     Pitt Johnstown dominated the Chargers in every facit of the match.  While holding Lancaster Bible to just one shot for the match, Pitt Johnstown tallied 36 shots, including 20 in the first half.
     Lancaster Bible College's Kirsten Shoemaker made 10 saves, but gave up six goals and suffered the loss.  The Chargers are 0-1-0.
     Pitt Johnstown will take on Point Park University on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in the Second Round of the UPJ Women's Kick-Off Classic.
