ATH05_BIO_216_RewnziL1_T2006 Lady Cat Volleyball Season Preview
     08/25/06...Head Coach Linda Renzi’s (3rd season)
youthful Lady Cat volleyball team enters the 2006 season excited about the challenge of entering the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC).  Although the Lady Cats will not be eligible to compete in the WVIAC championship race this season, several conference schools are on this year’s schedule to better help the team prepare for a full-league schedule in 2007.

Coach Renzi will look to five returning seniors to guide this young team.  Defensive specialist Ashley Brant (Johnstown, Pa.), setter Sarah Davision (Grove City, Pa.), and outside hitters Kara Grafton (Ford City, Pa.), Abbey Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) and Erin Sines (Meyersdale, Pa.) must be leaders both on and off the court.
Along with the seniors, Coach Renzi returns 11 sophomores, many of whom earned considerable playing time as freshmen in 2005.  The Lady Cats will also welcome six freshmen to the squad.
The 2006 Pitt Johnstown volleyball team will look to build on last year’s progress, as well as set the groundwork for the future of Lady Cat volleyball as the program begins to make the transition from playing an Independent schedule to competing full-time in the WVIAC beginning in 2007.
