
Assistant Coach Alan Hope
Assistant Coach Alan Hope joined Head Coach Crystal Dye's staff for the 2007 season after spending three seasons as the assistant coach in charge of instructing goalkeepers for the Pitt Johnstown men's soccer team, a duty he will retain with the women's team.
Coach Hope, born in Liverpool, England, began playing youth soccer at the age of seven, becoming a fixture in goal for Calderstones CCS A and B teams over five seasons. While studying at Leeds Met. University, Coach Hope played soccer for one year, before a wrist injury ended his goalkeeping career. Upon arriving in the United States, Coach Hope spent five years as the assistant coach at Somerset Area Junior High School. Coach Hope also spent 10 spring and fall seasons as an assistant on the PA West traveling team. Coach Hope is also responsible for centralizing the goalkeeping coaching in the Somerset Area School program, bringing junior and senior high goalkeepers together to work on fundamentals.
In addition, he spends time time holding volunteer clinics for local goalkeepers interested in furthering their techniques.
Coach Hope, employed by the Somerset County Blind Center, and his wife reside in Somerset, Pa.
