Prior to teaching at Pitt-Johnstown, Dr. Thomspon was a lecturer at the National University of Lesotho and University College of Swaziland in Southern Africa. In the United States, he was an Assistant Professor of Business at Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach and Visiting Instructor in Accounting at Frostburg Sate University.
Dr. Thomspon has taught a variety of undergraduate courses at Pitt-Johnstown and specializes in Finance. His teaching approach involves "hand on learning" using microcomputer modeling. He utilizes cases and modeling skills within the classroom.
In addition to teaching at Pitt-Johnstown, Dr. Thompson provides financial analysis and planning, cash flow management and loan proposal development. He also consults with small accounting firms and sole practitioners on a range of accounting issues in the area of valuaiton.
Dr. Thompson authors and conducts professional development seminars for CPA's in a number of states throughout the United States. He is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, Financial Management Association, Institute of Business Appraisers, and the American Society of Appraisers.
