Women's Track Finishes Third at Carnegie Mellon Invitational 04/11/06...The Pitt Johnstown women's track and field team earned a third place finish with 70 points at Tuesday's 2006 Carnegie Mellon University Invitational. Chelsea McKinney (St. Petersburg, Pa.) won the 400m, while Jenna Rozansky (Portage, Pa.) placed first in the 100m Hurdles and Kelli Murphy (Clarion, Pa.) won the Long Jump to lead Pitt Johnstown. McKinney ran a 1:01.48 to hold off Carnegie Mellon's Jackie Andreozzi to win the 400m, while Rozansky's 17.52 was good enough to win the 100m Hurdles. Rachele Gentile (North Apollo, Pa.) finished third in the 100m Hurdles with a 17.85. Murphy won the Long Jump with a jump of 15'1", followed by second place finisher Lara Groetzinger (Cumberland, MD) (14'7"). Pitt Johnstown also got fourth and fifth place finishes from Jami Oaks (South Fork, Pa.) (4'9") and Jennifer Miller (Johnstown, Pa.) (4'7") in the High Jump and fourth and fifth place finishes from Miller (32'7") and Groetzinger (32'0") in the Triple Jump. Krista Britcher (Johnstown, Pa.) placed third in the Javelin with a throw of 85'06" and fourth in the Shot Put with a throw of 35'7". Jill Maurer (Johnstown, Pa.) finished fourth in the the 800m (2:41.20) and fourth in the Javelin (75'11"). Overall, Carnegie Mellon won the team competition with 123 points, followed by Waynesburg College (89 points) and Pitt Johnstown (70 points.) Duquesne University also competed but did not qualify for team points. Pitt Johnstown travels to the Slippery Rock University Invitational on Saturday.
