Article Body: The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is hosting the ninth annual Symposium for the Promotion of Academic and Creative Enquiry (SPACE) from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, in the Living/Learning Center on the UPJ campus.

The all-campus event is being sponsored in part by a Promotion of Excellence grant from the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.

UPJ SPACE provides a forum for undergraduate students to present their work in a variety of venues, including class assignments, internships, and senior projects as varied as poetry and engineering. In 2005, more than 80 presentations were made representing nearly every major. Presentations will be in the form of posters or oral reports which will allow students the opportunity to explain his/her project and answer questions from the audience.

Founded in 1927, the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is a four-year, degree-granting college of the University of Pittsburgh. The university offers more than 40 majors and is known for its engineering technology, education, humanities, natural and social sciences degree programs. UPJ has been ranked “Third in the North” among public comprehensive colleges and universities, northern region by U.S. News and World Report, America’s Best Colleges, 2006.
