at Roanoke (VA) College Invitational - 03/18/06

Lady Cat Track Finishes 8th at Roanoke Invitational

and the Lady Cat track and field team opened the 2006 outdoor schedule with an eighth place finish at the Roanoke (VA) College Maroon Invitational on Saturday.  Senior Chelsea McKinney (St. Petersburg, Pa.) led Pitt Johnstown with second place finishes in both the 200 and 400 meter races.

     McKinney ran a 27.77 to place second in the 100m, before earning a second place finish in the 400m with a time of 1:02.50.  Sophomore Jennifer Miller (Johnstown, Pa.) placed third in the Triple Jump by jumping 32'11.5" in her final jump, while freshman Lara Groetzinger (Cumberland, MD) placed fourth in the Triple Jump.  Senior Jenna Rozansky (Portage, Pa.) earned a third place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17:22.  Coach Dye also got an impressive showing from sophomore Krista Britcher (Johnstown, Pa.)Britcher placed third in the shotput with a throw of 36'1" and sixth in the javelin.
     Southern Virginia University won the team competition with 148.5 points.  Pitt Johnstown was eighth with 40 points.
     The Lady Cats travel to the Slippery Rock University Invitational on Saturday.
