The exciting week-long event annually ranks among the top five attended conference tournaments in the NCAA Division II ranks and is the oldest collegiate basketball tournament in America. Founded in 1935, it predates the NCAA, NIT, and NAIA tournaments.
---The WVIAC Tournament Network is by far the most successful radio venture conducted by any small college conference. The league partnered with smallcollegesportsweb.com to build a 10-station affiliate network. Post-season basketball, softball, and baseball tournament games are also carried via the internet as part of the network.
---32 conference squads participated in the NCAA post-season in 2004-05, capped by national top ten finishes by West Virginia State's baseball squad and Charleston's women's basketball team.
