#5 Wrestlers Tie School-Record For Wins In a Season With 29-7 Victory Over Slippery Rock 02/09/06...Head Coach Pat Pecora's #5-ranked Mountain Cat wrestlers rallied from a 7-0 deficit to tie the school record for wins in a season with a 29-7 victory over visiting Slippery Rock University, Thursday night in the Sports Center. Pitt Johnstown, 23-4 on the season, has also posted a 9-2 record this year against Division I teams. Sophomore All-American Mike Corcetti (Export, Pa.) earned an 8-0 major decision over Division I National Qualifier Charlie Pienaar to get the Mountain Cats night turned around. After starting the match with a major decision loss at 165 lbs. and a 5-0 loss at 174 lbs., Corcetti's impressive victory over Pienaar got Pitt Johnstown rolling. Junior Mike Fowler (197 lbs.) (Carrolltown, Pa.) and two-time All-American Zach Majocha (HWT.) (Upper Burrell, Pa.) followed with decision wins, before senior National Runner-up Ryon Mazzocco (Cresson, Pa.) earned an 11-3 major decision over Chris Clarke at 125 lbs. to put Pitt Johnstown up 14-7. From that point, the Mountain Cats never looked back on their way to the 29-7 win. Sophomore Brandon Reasy (133 lbs.) (New Enterprise, Pa.), senior Jay Matteo (149 lbs.) (New Castle, Pa.) and junior Joe Strittmatter (157 lbs.) (Ebensburg, Pa.) all collected decision victories, while senior National Champion Thad Benton (141 lbs.) (Claysburg, Pa.) won by forfeit at 141 lbs. With the loss, Slippery Rock dropped to 12-9 on the year. Pitt Johnstown will finish the 2005-06 dual meet schedule and celebrate Senior Night against #10-ranked Mercyhurst College on Friday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
