ESPN The Magazine
Third Team Academic All-District II when the teams were released on Thursday.
Zapf
, the Lady Cats’ leading rebounder and second leading scorer, has a 3.85 G.P.A. in Education. With this selection,
Zapf
becomes the eighth Lady Cat to earn a spot on one of the Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Teams. The All-District Teams were selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Zapf
, a graduate of North Hills High School, is averaging 14.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in 2005-06. Her 81.7% (116-142) shooting from the free-throw line leads the Lady Cats, while 54.6% (100-183) shooting from the field is second on the team.
Zapf
ranks fourth on the team in steals (35) and fifth in assists (27).
Zapf
also ranks 16th on the Lady Cat All-Time Rebounding List with 566 career rebounds.
Academically,
Zapf
has been on the Dean’s List every semester in college. She was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma Freshman Honor Society and has been selected for the Pi Lambda Theta Education Honor Society.
Zapf
, a recipient of a Leadership Scholarship at Pitt Johnstown, is the chairperson for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a member of the Education Club.
In order to be nominated for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.0. Nominees must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have completed at least one full academic year at the institution. In addition, the student-athlete must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games.
