#4 Wrestlers Defeat #18 Findlay, 21-15 02/04/06...Head Coach Pat Pecora's #4-ranked Mountain Cat wrestlers broke a 15-15 tie with decision victories by junior Mike Fowler (Carrolltown, Pa.) at 197 lbs. and two-time All-American Zach Majocha (Upper Burrell, Pa.) at heavyweight to earn a 21-15 win at #18 University of Findlay (OH) on Saturday. Pitt Johnstown, now 22-4 on the year, is one win shy of tying the school for victories in a season. Senior National Runner-up Ryon Mazzocco (125 lbs.) (Cresson, Pa.) got the night started with an 8-0 major decision over Craig Fechko, but Findlay quickly jumped ahead with a fall at 133 lbs. The Findlay lead was short-lived as senior National Champion Thad Benton (141 lbs.) (Claysburg, Pa.) and senior Jay Matteo (149 lbs.) (New Castle, Pa.) scored major decision wins to put Pitt Johnstown up 12-6. Findlay then responded with an 11-5 win at 157 lbs. and a 9-7 victory in the 165-lb. bout to tie the score, 12-12. A 9-4 decision by junior Adam Musisko (McKeesport, Pa.) over Jeff Havelka at 174 lbs. gave the Mountain Cats the lead again, but Clint Salisbury upset #5-ranked Mike Corcetti (184 lbs.) (Export, Pa.), 12-8, to even the score once again. However, Fowler and Majocha stepped-up in the final two bouts with 3-2 wins to secure the Pitt Johnstown victory. Pitt Johnstown returns home to host NCAA Division I Slippery Rock University on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
