East Region #10 Lady Cats Roll Over Cheyney, 68-37
Junior forward Jessica Zapf (Pittsburgh, Pa) collected game-highs of 20 points and nine rebounds to lead the Lady Cats, ranked 10th in this week's East Region poll, to a 68-37 victory over Cheyney University, Wednesday evening in the Sports Center.  Head Coach Jodi Gault's Lady Cats have won three straight games and improved to 14-6 on the season. 

     Zapf, who finished 6-9 from the field and 8-8 from the free-throw line, moved into 17th place on the Lady Cat All-Time Rebounding List.  With nine rebounds, Zapf will tie Teri Menett (1987-1991) for 16th on rebounding list.  Junior guard Allison Krischer (Johnstown, Pa.) added 16 points, including three three-pointers, while red-shirt freshman guard Crystal Andrews (Johnstown, Pa.), ranked 31st in the nation in steals per game, scored seven points and made six steals, and senior center Samantha Conner (Everett, Pa.) tallied seven points.  Conner moved into 20th place on the All-Time Scoring List with 1,057 career points.  Along with her seven points, Conner pulled down five rebounds.  Senior guard Jaclyn Schirf (Loretto, Pa.) chipped in four points, four rebounds and a game-high six assists.
     After taking a 30-21 halftime lead, Pitt Johnstown came out and outscored Cheyney 38-16 in the second half.  The Lady Cats held the Lady Wolves to just 34.1% (14-41) shooting from the field, including 27.8% (5-18) in the second half.  Pitt Johnstown finished 25-59 (42.4%) from the field, 3-6 (50.0%) from three-point range and 15-20 (75.0%) from the free-throw line.  The Lady Cats also forced 30 Cheyney turnovers and turned them into 32 points. 
     Ashley Blake scored eight points and Tammy Frazier had seven points and six rebounds to lead the Lady Wolves, now 4-16 on the year.
     The Lady Cats begin a stretch of five straight road games at Columbia Union (MD) on Saturday.  Pitt Johnstown will play its next home game on Monday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. against Shepherd (WV) University.
