Lady Cats Advance to Title Game of Mountain Cat Tournament with 78-49 Win Over Bloomsburg

Red-shirt freshman guard Crystal Andrews (Johnstown, Pa.) scored a game-high 19 points on 8-10 shooting from the field to lead the Lady Cats to a 78-49 victory over Bloomsburg University and help the team advance to Friday's title game of the 2005 Mountain Cat Tournament sponsored by Cumming Trophies & Engraving.  Pitt Johnstown, 8-2 and winners of seven straight game, will take on Ashland (OH) University, who defeated Philadelphia University, 66-53, for the championship on Friday at 3:00 p.m.  Bloomsburg will battle Philadelphia in the consolation game at 1:00 p.m.

     Along with her terrific shooting, Andrews also had team-highs of seven rebounds and six assists.  Junior forward Jessica Zapf (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored 15 points, had six rebounds and dished out five assists, while junior guard Allison Krischer (Johnstown, Pa.) and senior center Samantha Conner (Everett, Pa.) tallied 11 and 10 points, respectively.  Red-shirt junior forward Shannon Reigh (Williamsburg, Pa.) rounded out the five Lady Cats who scored in double-figures with all 10 of her points coming in the first half to guide Pitt Johnstown to a 44-30 halftime lead. 
     The Lady Cats jumped out to a 13-5 lead to start the game on 6-6 shooting and never looked back.  Pitt Johnstown forced 25 turnovers and turned them into 33 points.  The Lady Cats also shot 59.3% (35-59) from the field, while holding Bloomsburg to just 18-50 (36.0%) shooting for the game.
    Jamie Kauczka and Gabe Miskinis each scored 14 points to lead Bloomsburg.  Miskinis' game-high eight rebounds also led the Huskies, who dropped to 3-6 on the season.
     In Thursday's opener, Ashland broke open a tight game by outscoring Philadelphia, 16-3, over the last 6:52 to earn a 13-point win and advance to the championship game.  Amber Rall's game-high 19 points led Ashland, now 6-6 on the year.  Philadelphia, which fell to 4-3, was led by Nicole Mechell and Meg Abele's 16 points apeice.
     Following the Mountain Cat Tournament, the Lady Cats will tip-off the second semester at Millersville University on Wednesday, before returning home to host Columbia Union (MD) College as part of a doubleheader with the Mountain Cat men's basketball team on Saturday, January 7.  The Lady Cats will tip-off at 6:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 8:00 p.m.
