Lady Cat Basketball Suffers, 65-57, Loss to #24 Glenville State in Opening Round of Findlay Tournament
11/18/05...Head Coach Jodi Gault, who entered the 2005-06 season with 499 career victories, will have to look for career victory #500 on Saturday, as the Lady Cats suffered a tough, 65-57, loss to #24 Glenville State (WV) College in Friday's first round of the University of Findlay (OH) Tournament. Red-shirt freshman guard Crystal Andrews (Johnstown, Pa.) led three Pitt Johnstown players who scored in double-figures with 16 points. The Lady Cats will play Tiffin (OH) University in Saturday's consolation game at 1:00 p.m. Tiffin fell, 75-56, to Findlay.
Pitt Johnstown, which trailed 35-33 at halftime, also got 13 points and a team-high 11 rebounds from junior forward Jessica Zapf (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and 12 points and five assists from junior guard Allison Krischer (Johnstown, Pa.). Senior guard Jaclyn Schirf (Loretto, Pa.) grabbed eight rebounds, while senior center Samantha Conner (Everett, Pa.) scored nine points and pulled down three rebounds. Andrews finished the game with 16 points on 7-16 shooting from the field, including one three-pointer. She also had four rebounds and dished out five assists in a losing cause.
The Lady Cats shot 45.3% (24-53) for the game, while holding the Pioneers to 43.9% shooting. Glenville State connected on 8-22 from three-point range. Pitt Johnstown was just 2-8 from behind the three-point line.
Glenville State was led by Casey Taylor's 20 points on 10-11 shooting from the field. Rachel Redick scored 15 points, and Danae Dobbins scored 12 points and had a game-high 16 rebounds for the Pioneers.
