Mountain Cat Soccer Suffers, 2-1, Loss at Wheeling Jesuit
10/19/05...Head Coach Eric Kinsey and the Mountain Cat soccer team traveled to Wheeling Jesuit University Wednesday evening and suffered a 2-1 loss and fell to 3-11-1 on the season. Freshman forward Jason Swope's (Indiana, Pa.) goal 15 minutes into the second half tied the score, but Wheeling Jesuit added the game winner 12 minutes later.
Following a scoreless first half, Wheeling Jesuit took a 1-0 lead four minutes into the second half. Swope's goal in the 60th minuted knotted the score a 1-1, but Wheeling Jesuit found the back of the net in the 77th minute to secure the victory. Senior goalkeeper Steve Weimer (Scottdale, Pa.) made three saves for the Mountain Cats, who were outshot 19-7 for the match. Wheeling Jesuit improved to 7-8-1 with the victory.
The Mountain Cats host Ohio Valley (WV) University on Saturday as part of a doubleheader with the Lady Cats. The Mountain Cats kick-off at 2:00 p.m., followed by the Lady Cats' Senior Day match against the Fighting Scots at 4:00 p.m.
