Salem International Defeats Mountain Cat Soccer Team, 5-0
10/12/05...The Mountain Cat soccer team dropped to 3-9-1 with a 5-0 home loss to Salem International (WV) University Wednesday afternoon.
The Tigers got on the scoreboard nine minutes into the match, before adding another goal four minutes before halftime. Salem International kept the pressure on and tallied three more second half goals to go onto a 5-0 victory. Senior goalkeeper Steve Weimer (Scottdale, Pa.) made seven saves, but suffered the loss. The Tigers outshot the Mountain Cats, 20-16 for the match. With the victory, Salem International raised its season record to 7-3-1.
The Mountain Cats host West Virginia Wesleyan as part of a doubleheader with the Lady Cats on Saturday. The Lady Cats play Mansfield University at 2:00 p.m., followed by the Mountain Cats at 4:00 p.m.
