Mountain Cat Soccer Falls 3-2 at Geneva College
10/04/05...The Mountain Cat soccer team rallied for a pair of second half goals Tuesday night at Geneva College, but it wasn't enough, as Pitt Johnstown suffered a 3-2 loss and dropped to 2-8-1 on the season.
Geneva jumped on the Mountain Cats for two first half goals, then added a third goal on a penatly kick early in the second half, before freshman forward Drew Yaingst (Stevens, Pa.) scored off of a pass from sophomore defender Alex Gatti (Indiana, Pa.) to cut the lead to 3-1. Gatti added a goal of his own later in the half to pull Pitt Johnstown to within one, but Head Coach Eric Kinsey's squad was not able to tie the score. Yeingst and freshman forward Jason Swope (Indiana, Pa.) picked up assists on Gatti's goal. Mountain Cat senior goalkeeper Steve Weimer (Scottdale, Pa.) made four saves. Pitt Johnstown outshot Geneva, 17-14, for the match.
The Mountain Cats travel to Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, before returning home to host Salem International (WV) University as part of a doubleheader with the Lady Cats on Wednesday, October 12. The Lady Cats play at 2:30 p.m., followed by the Mountain Cats at 4:30 p.m.
