Pitt-Johnstown Facilities Update - June 2014

Article Body
The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is taking a major step in updating facilities on campus beginning with the substantial interior renovation of Highland Townhouses, the first renovation project identified in the new strategic planning document, The Next Level: Distinctive Excellence 2014-2021.

President Jem Spectar stated, “The renovation of Highland is another step in continuing the on-going transformation of our campus facilities. Following the launch of our new strategic plan, we have set an ambitious goal for complete renovation and upgrades to all our residential facilities within the next five years.”

During the planning process for Highland, several needs were recognized, including the complete redesign of interior spaces and the updating of appliances, furniture, lighting, and windows. Additionally, a sprinkler system and security screens on all windows will be installed.

Highland renovations, which began on May 1, will be finished by the fall semester. Following the completion of Highland, the University will continue to update other townhouses on campus. Also this summer, a new student information desk will be built and installed in the Student Union.
