The Pitt-Johnstown community mourns the passing of Dr. Richard O. Mead, a retired faculty member of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, who passed away recently at the age of 81.
Dr. Mead joined the Pitt-Johnstown faculty in 1973 as academic dean and associate professor of natural sciences, and in 1989 he returned to teaching as associate professor of natural sciences and physics. He earned his BA and BS at the University of California, Berkeley and his PhD at the University of California, Davis.
Dr. Mead is survived by his wife Ann Wolfe. He was a devoted father to Benjamin, Alexander, and Matthew; and grandfather to Jack, Allison, Julia, and Avery.
