President's Staff Awards for Excellence in Service

President's Staff Awards for Excellence in Service

Article Body

Since 1999, the President’s Staff Award for Excellence in Service has been given to staff members who have demonstrated dedication to the University beyond the responsibilities of their job.  As a way of recognizing the increasing involvement of our employees in the community, I have created two Staff Excellence in Service Awards this year: the Staff Award for Excellence in Service to UPJ, and the Staff Award for Excellence in Service to the Community.

The Award for Excellence in Service to UPJ will continue to recognize staff members whose commitment and dedication to UPJ have made a significant organizational impact.  The Award for Excellence in Service to the Community will recognize staff members whose work has gone beyond the boundaries of the UPJ campus and made a significant impact on the community.   I believe that the creation of these two awards sends a clear message to the UPJ community that the extraordinary efforts of staff are worthy of recognition and reward, and are greatly appreciated.  Up to one award of $1,000 may be granted in each category.

Any member of the University community, including students, staff, faculty and alumni, may submit a nomination for both awards.  Additionally, members of the community at large are invited to submit nominations for the Award for Excellence in Service to the Community.  I have attached additional information on both awards, including accomplishments worthy of nomination.

All nominations should be submitted to Mrs. Andrea Leibfreid, Chair of the Selection Committee, 104 Krebs Hall.  The deadline for submission is Monday, October 17, 2005.

I appreciate your cooperation in this process and encourage you to consider nominating a staff member who you feel exemplifies a spirit of service.  I look forward to announcing the awardees in December at the annual staff luncheon.
