Penalty Kick Goal Sinks Mountain Cat Soccer on Alumni Day 10/01/05...Head Coach Eric Kinsey's Mountain Cat soccer team gave up one goal, a penalty kick goal, and suffered a 1-0 loss to visiting Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College Saturday afternoon on Alumni Day. The loss dropped Pitt Johnstown to 2-7-1 on the season. The Mountain Cats and Battlers competed in a scoreless tie for nearly 65 minutes, until Pitt Johnstown was called for a foul in the box. That foul gave Alderson-Broaddus a penalty kick with 25:52 to play in the match. Alderson-Broaddus' Gil Vainstein bounced the penalty kick off the left post and into the back of the net to give the Battlers a lead they would never give up. Pitt Johnstown senior goalkeeper Steve Weimer (Scottdale, Pa.) made nine saves in the loss, while Alderson-Broaddus, who outshot the Mountain Cats 10-4, got four saves from David Harvey. With the victory, the Battlers improved to 5-6 on the year. The Mountain Cats travel to Geneva College on Tuesday and to Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, before returning home to host Salem International (WV) University as part of a doubleheader with the Lady Cats on Wednesday, October 12. The Lady Cats play at 2:30 p.m., followed by the Mountain Cats at 4:30 p.m.
