Lady Cat Volleyball Splits Matches at Washington & Jefferson Tri-Match  
     09/24/05...The Lady Cat volleyball team traveled to Washington and Jefferson College on Saturday for a tri-match on Saturday and came away with a three-games-to-one loss to the host school, before rebounding for a three-games-to-one victory over Pitt Greensburg.  Pitt Johnstown is now 6-7 on the year.
     In Saturday's first match, Washington & Jefferson defeated Pitt Johnstown 34-32, 26-30, 26-30, 19-30.  Freshman middle hitter Casey Jo Ritenour (Latrobe, Pa.) led the Lady Cats with 11 kills, two blocks and seven block assists, while fellow freshman middle hitter Kayla Lape (Fishertown, Pa.) added 10 kills and six block assists and junior outside hitter Abbey Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) had 10 kills.  The Lady Cats also got 44 assists from junior setter Sarah Davison (Grove City, Pa.), 24 digs and three service aces from senior defensive specialist Lauren Hildebrand (Johnstown, Pa.) and 13 digs from junior defensive specialist Ashley Brant (Johnstown, Pa.).  Washington and Jefferson improved to 7-3.
     After falling in the day's first match, the Lady Cats responded with a 28-30, 30-22, 30-26, 30-19 win over Pitt Greensburg.  Freshman outside hitter Jessica Hmel (Cresson. Pa.) collected 10 kills and three services aces and Ritenour had nine kills, six blocks and three block assists to lead the way for Head Coach Linda Renzi's team.  Lape chipped in seven more kills and Davison had 38 more assists.  In addition, Brant and Hrescak combined for 11 and 18 digs, respecitvely.  With the loss, Pitt Greensburg fell to 3-11.
     Pitt Johnstown retuns home to host Saint Vincent College on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
