       09/23/05...
The Mountain Cat soccer team traveled to Hickory, NC and suffered a 5-2 loss to Wingate University Friday afternoon.  Pitt Johnstown fell to 2-4-1 on the year.
Head Coach Eric Kinsey's Mountain Cats fell behind 4-0 just 30 minutes into the game, before freshman forward Jason Swope (Indiana, Pa.) cut the lead to 4-1 at halftime with an unassisted goal.  Pitt Johnstown made it 4-2 early in the second half when freshman midfielder Vince Spillane (Pittsburgh, Pa.) took a pass from sophomore midfielder Chris Hawkins (Scottdale, Pa.) and found the back of the net.  However, that was as close as the Mountain Cats would get.  Wingate, now 5-5 on the year, tallied another goal to set the final score at 5-2. Senior goalkeeper Steve Weimer (Scottdale, Pa.) made eight saves, but suffered the loss for Pitt Johsntown, which was out-shot 21-6 for the match.
The Mountain Cats will wrap up their trip to North Carolina when they take on Lenoir-Rhyne College on Sunday.  Pitt Johnstown will play it's next home match on Saturday, October 1 at 1:00 p.m. against Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College.
