Mountain Cat Soccer Cruises To 5-0 Win At Mount Aloysius College
09/18/05...Head Coach Eric Kinsey's Mountain Cat soccer team broke open a 1-0 halftime lead with four second half goals to earn a 5-0 victory at Mount Aloysius College Sunday afternoon. The win raised Pitt Johnstown's overall record to 2-3-1.
Senior midfielder Brad Clingan (Scottdale, Pa.) got Pitt Johnstown on the scoreboard with a goal at the 26-minute mark of the first half. The Mountain Cats held that lead at halftime before scoring four more unanswered goals in the second half. Sophomores Chris Hawkins (Scottdale, Pa.) and Dan DeRenzo (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and freshmen Brad Walker (Leechburg, Pa.) and Jason Swope (Indiana, Pa.) all had second half goals, while senior forward Bryan Rossin (McMurray, Pa.) picked-up three assists. Ben Sera (Irwin, Pa.), James Penn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Alex Gatti (Indiana, Pa.) added one assist each. Pitt Johnstown senior goalkeeper Steve Weimer (Scottdale, Pa.) made three saves to improve to 2-2-1 on the year. With the loss, Mount Aloysius fell to 0-5 on the season.
The Mountain Cats travel to North Carolina to take on Wingate University and Lenoir-Rhyne College this weekend. Pitt Johnstown will play it's next home match on Saturday, October 1 at 1:00 p.m. against Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College.
