Mountain Cat Soccer Falls at Home to
#17 Shepherd University

     09/15/05...Head Coach Eric Kinsey's Mountain Cat men's soccer team returned home Thursday afternoon in the hopes of pulling off an upset over #17-ranked Shepherd (WV) University. However, the Rams showed why they are nationally-ranked by defeating Pitt Johnstown 5-0. The Mountain Cats are now 1-3 on the season.
     Pitt Johnstown trailed just 1-0 at halftime, but Shepherd scored four more goals in the second half to put the match away. The Rams got two goals and an assist from Jamie Ritchie, and single goals from Richard Smith and Nathan Tobler. The Mountain Cats also gave up an own goal late in the second half.
     Freshman goalkeeper Mike Bordogna (Monroeville, Pa.) made six saves for the Mountain Cats, while Shepherd got four saves and an assist from Patrick Quinn. The Rams outshot Pitt Johnstown 13-5 for the match. With the victory, Shepherd improved to 5-0-1 on the year.
     The Mountain Cats travel to La Roche College on Saturday and to Mount Aloysius College on Sunday. Pitt Johnstown will play it's next home match on Saturday, October 1 at 1:00 p.m. against Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College.
